After over a decade of working 100+ hour weeks in multipe businesses in the UK, I took a sabbatical for a few years and left the UK in August 2013 in the realisation of my long term aim to move back to Aotearoa NZ (after my GAP year in Wānaka in 1996).
Initially sailing half way around the world on a racing yacht (would not recommend). After getting to Aotearoa in 2014 I started writing my first book based on workshops I used to deliver in person, continued working as a professional massage therapist, got heavily involved in the circus, worked as an electrician’s mate, worked as a dockmaster at the marina I was living in on a small sail boat, started doing rope access inspection work across the skyline of Wellington, made set pieces and props for both the stage, screen, & national exhibitions, then started teaching set and props making for a couple of years. All whilst developing a superb network of friends and contacts around the capital city of Pōnekē, (Wellington), Aoteraoa New Zealand.
The world changed for many people from Covid in 2020, and my life did too. Particularly in 2022 when Delta & Omicron was left to spread. I was lucky to take on a big 300m2 workshop space in Masterton in 2022. Then after a couple of years in 2024 I was very fortunate to find a small space of off-grid land surrounded by native bush, where I’ve started working on the next stage of building my dream workshop space within a small community.
I still have quite a few interests, which can help me gain lots of flexible time. I also have a pretty diverse background.
If you’re interested in chatting further, do get in contact and perhaps we can safely meet up for a coffee and chat.
